Run and Walk for Real Homemade Ice Cream


For a unique experience not found at many other road races, try the Millers Mills Sundae Run and two-mile fun walk on Sunday, July 18, 2010. Designated the official cool down event to the Utica Boilermaker Road Race, the MMSR offers a small town atmosphere and homemade ice cream to all runners and walkers. The certified 5K race starts and finishes at the bridge in scenic downtown Millers Mills. The course is a challenging out and back route over rolling hills complete with water stops and splits called out for all runners.

The top overall finishers, age group finishers and even the “middle of the pack runner” receive prizes, some of which feature the work of local artisans. The finish line party includes music, door prizes and old-fashioned homemade ice cream.  The two mile out and back walk is not a timed event, but walkers are also eligible for door prizes.

The entry fees are $15 for runners and $5 for walkers; runners who pre-register by July 5 will receive a discount and commemorative  tote bag.  Race day registration is from 7:30 am - 9 am. Both events start at 9:15 am sharp. Registration forms are available on the Grange website, www.millersmillsny.com, in local area fitness centers, and at other area races.

The Sundae Run is held in conjunction with the Millers Mills Old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. After the race, musical entertainment, horse drawn hay rides, crafts, church bazaar, and crosscut sawing contests round out a family oriented day. Ice cream, cake, hot dogs and other refreshments will be available.
